The integration of China's magnesium rolling processing equipment industry with the new energy industry in the past decade has shifted from material substitution to deep collaboration in system level lightweight solutions. Represented by Baowu Magnesium Industry, the company has broken through semi-solid injection molding technology, achieving a 33% reduction in weight and a 40% reduction in cost for magnesium alloy electric drive housings (such as SAIC's second-generation products), and driving power density to exceed 4.4kW/kg; Yunhai Metal relies on a complete industrial chain to supply magnesium alloy structural components in bulk to Tesla and BYD, covering core components such as battery pack shells and brackets. In the field of energy storage, the hollow silicon carbide composite magnesium material developed by Leshan Normal University has reduced the weight of battery packs by 40%, increased battery life by 15%, and achieved full process localization. The technological path has evolved from traditional rolling to high-precision rolling+composite forming+intelligent temperature control, with equipment accuracy reaching ± 2 μ m, supporting the large-scale application of ultra-thin magnesium alloy sheet and strip (<0.5mm) in battery trays and energy storage cabinet frames. The 'Energy saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 2.0' specifies a target of 25kg of magnesium per vehicle by 2025, with China's original magnesium production accounting for 91.6% of the world's total, demonstrating significant resource and cost advantages. Currently, domestic magnesium rolling equipment is shifting from 'single machine export' to 'material+process+equipment' integrated output, covering three major scenarios: new energy vehicles, humanoid robots, and energy storage systems, becoming the core carrier of 'China's lightweight' technology going global.
