The Chinese nickel hydrogen battery industry is opening up new development paths through deep integration with the energy storage industry. The core of this integration lies in the 'hybrid energy storage' technology model, where nickel hydrogen batteries and lithium batteries complement each other to leverage their respective advantages. For example, the 200MW/800MWh independent energy storage power station built by Keli in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province, adopts a hybrid technology of 'lithium iron phosphate+nickel hydrogen', achieves efficient coupling through an intelligent management system, increases the overall cycle life by 30%, and can meet the rapid frequency regulation needs of the power grid. Nickel hydrogen batteries, with their high safety, long lifespan (up to 20000 cycles), wide temperature range adaptability (-30 ℃ to 50 ℃), and extremely fast response speed (less than 0.4 seconds), have demonstrated unique value in fixed energy storage scenarios such as grid frequency regulation that require frequent charging and discharging. At the industrial level, there are both local leading enterprises such as Keliyuan leading the construction of a large-scale energy storage ecosystem consortium, as well as companies such as Toyota and Shenergy collaborating to explore the cascading utilization of automotive batteries. In terms of policy, National People's Congress deputies have suggested re examining and supporting the application of nickel hydrogen batteries in the field of energy storage. By the end of 2025, the market size of nickel hydrogen battery packs in China has exceeded 10 billion yuan, with industrial and commercial energy storage applications contributing over 40% of the market share, indicating that this technology route has found a precise ecological niche in the construction of new power systems.
