Over the past decade (2016-2025), China's casting industry has achieved a historic leap from scale expansion to high-quality development. It has consistently ranked as the world's largest casting producer for many years, with production reaching 50.75 million tons in 2024, accounting for over 45% of the global total. The industry is accelerating its transformation towards high-end, intelligent, and green development. Disruptive technologies such as 3D printing sand casting and integrated casting, forging, and milling have achieved breakthroughs, reducing costs by over 90% and promoting the self-reliance and controllability of key components in aerospace, new energy vehicles, and other fields. At the policy level, the 'Guiding Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of the Foundry and Forging Industry' clearly guides green manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, forcing the elimination of high-energy consumption capacity, reducing energy consumption per ton of rollers by over 20%, and widely applying smart factories and CAE simulation platforms. Exports continue to grow, with 896,000 tons of black castings exported from January to May 2025 (+7.2%), and 1.22 million tons of automotive parts exported (+7.5%). Customers include Fortune Global 500 companies such as Caterpillar and ZF. The optimization of the industrial structure is significant, with the automotive sector accounting for nearly 30%. The proportion of high-end castings has increased, and the integration of mid-to-low-end production capacity has accelerated. The industry is moving from a 'big and crude' stage to a new stage of 'precision, lightweight, green, and intelligent innovation'.
