Over the past decade, China's shipbuilding industry has achieved a historic leap from being a 'major shipbuilding country' to a 'powerful shipbuilding country'. Its three major indicators of shipbuilding (completed volume, new orders received, and order backlog) have ranked first globally for 16 consecutive years. In the first three quarters of 2025, the market share reached 53.8%, 67.3%, and 65.2% respectively. In 2024, the proportion of new orders received globally reached 74.1%. The industry has achieved breakthroughs in multiple areas of high-end ship types, successfully delivering the world's first 24,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship, the first domestically produced large cruise ship 'Aida Metropolis', and the first 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship, marking China's comprehensive mastery of high value-added shipbuilding capabilities. The green transformation is accelerating, and the 'Action Plan for Green Development of the Shipbuilding Industry (2024-2030)' has pushed the international market share of clean energy-powered ships such as LNG, methanol, and ammonia to over 50%. Intelligent systems are applied in more than half of new shipbuilding, covering intelligent navigation, energy efficiency management, and digital twin technology. The industry's profit margin has reached a historical high of 9.71%, and the self-reliance rate of domestically produced ship design software has exceeded 95%. The industrial chain collaboration and technological innovation system are gradually improving, providing solid support for the strategy of becoming a maritime power.
