The Chinese electric furnace industry is accelerating its deep integration with 5G technology, promoting the transition of short process electric arc furnace steelmaking towards intelligence, unmanned operation, and high energy efficiency. At the Chengdu Metallurgical 5G Factory, the 5G private network has achieved a 95% automation rate for key processes, shortened the fault response time to 10 minutes, increased the overall equipment efficiency by more than 15%, and reduced the overall cost by 12%. By deploying millisecond level sensor networks and edge computing nodes, the system collects furnace temperature, voltage, current and other data in real time, and combines AI prediction model to achieve dynamic optimization of energy consumption and early warning of equipment failure, reducing operation and maintenance costs by more than 30%. The '5G+Digital Continuous Casting' project of Meigang relies on ultra high definition video feedback and remote control, enabling operators to completely escape from high-temperature and high-risk environments and achieve 'human-machine separation'. Enterprises such as Fangda Jiugang have built digital twin systems, 1:1 replicated electric furnace production lines, dynamically simulated thermodynamic processes, accurately controlled scrap preheating and melting parameters, and significantly reduced energy consumption per ton of steel. The 'perception decision execution' closed-loop supported by 5G networks is upgrading electric furnaces from single melting equipment to flexible load units in new power systems, supporting efficient recycling of scrap steel resources and the implementation of the 'dual carbon' goal.
