The Chinese measuring instrument industry is accelerating its evolution from traditional isolated measurement to networked and intelligent measurement systems with the help of 5G technology. The large connectivity, low latency, and high reliability of 5G networks provide critical infrastructure for real-time and secure transmission of massive data from various measuring instruments such as water, electricity, gas, and heat. Integration is mainly reflected in: firstly, achieving wide area high-frequency data collection and remote meter reading. The 5G network supports concurrent access of tens of millions of terminals, making it possible to transmit energy consumption data at the minute or even second level, providing accurate load profiling for power grid and water companies. The deployment of 5G smart meters by State Grid Hubei Power saving Company has achieved a meter reading success rate of 99.99% and reduced operation and maintenance costs by 70%. The third is to empower the instrument's own status monitoring and fault warning, using 5G to upload the instrument's operational health data, achieving remote diagnosis and active maintenance. Industry leaders such as Weisheng Information and Xintian Technology have jointly established 5G laboratories with operators to develop embedded 5G modules, and have collaborated with Huawei, ZTE, and others to launch 5G based smart energy solutions. On the whole, 5G is helping the measurement instrument industry to surpass the 'measurement' itself, become the core data portal of the energy Internet and the city's Internet of Things perception network, and drive the refinement and intelligent transformation of public utility services.
